What Guests Say
Frequently Asked
How close do you actually get to the elephants at Knysna Elephant Park?
Very close. The Knysna Elephant Park offers a hands-on experience where you can touch, feed, and walk alongside the elephants under the supervision of trained handlers. It is not a drive-through game reserve but a controlled, intimate encounter in a free-range environment.
Is the Featherbed Nature Reserve ferry ride included, or just the nature reserve itself?
Both the ferry crossing and the full eco-experience at Featherbed are included in your tour price. This covers the boat trip across the Knysna Lagoon, the 4×4 trailer ride up to the viewpoints, the guided walk, and the buffet lunch. It is one of the highlights of the day and a South African Heritage Site.
Is there a gin tasting included at the Knysna distilleries, or is that extra?
The tour includes a visit to the distilleries where gin is traditionally distilled using a copper pot still with nine natural botanicals. Any tastings or purchases are for your own account. Your guide will take you through the experience and the story behind the production.
Will there be time to explore Knysna town and do some shopping?
Yes, the itinerary includes leisure time to explore Knysna’s waterfront, art and craft shops, and the iconic Knysna Heads viewpoints. The exact amount of free time depends on the pace of the day, but your guide will ensure you have a comfortable window to browse and take in the town.
Is the optional coastal walk into the sea caves at Featherbed very strenuous?
The optional guided 2.2km walk descends through coastal forest and fynbos into ancient sea caves. It involves some uneven terrain and a moderate level of fitness is recommended. It is not included in the standard tour price but can be arranged as an add-on. Let your guide know in advance if you would like to include it.
