Pickup & Forest Arrival
Your private guide collects you from your hotel or guest house anywhere in the Garden Route. A relaxed morning drive takes you east along the coast and into the Tsitsikamma, a region whose name comes from the Khoisan for “place of much water”. Photo stops along the way.

The Ancient Big Tree
A short, easy walk through indigenous forest brings you to the Big Tree, a yellowwood giant standing some 36 metres tall with a circumference of nearly 9 metres. It is around 800 years old and still very much alive. Few introductions to the forest are quite as humbling.

Canopy Zip Line Adventure (Optional)
For those who like a little altitude, an optional zip line tour sends you between platforms on a steel cable strung 30 metres above the forest floor. You glide between giant yellowwoods and over waterfalls, swapping forest stillness for a proper rush of speed. Your guide will explain the options on the day.

Suspension Bridge & Lunch
Inside Tsitsikamma National Park, a forest path opens onto the Storms River suspension bridge, where the river meets the Indian Ocean in spectacular fashion. Afterwards, settle in for a leisurely lunch at the reserve restaurant (for your own account), with sea views as the main course.

Bloukrans Bungee
Next stop, Bloukrans Bridge: the world’s highest commercial bungee jump at a heart-stopping 216 metres. Whether you leap, walk the bridge underside, or simply watch and cheer others on from the viewing deck, it’s an extraordinary thing to witness. Jump cost is for your own account.

Nature's Valley & Bramon Wine Estate
The day winds down with a scenic descent of the Groot River Pass into Nature’s Valley, one of the most postcard-perfect corners of the coast. A final stop follows at Bramon Wine Estate, producers of South Africa’s first Sauvignon Blanc Méthode Cap Classique, before the easy drive back to your hotel.

Do I have to do the bungee jump at Bloukrans Bridge?
Absolutely not. The stop at Bloukrans is included as part of the scenic drive and you are very welcome to watch, take photos, or simply enjoy the views from the bridge. The jump itself is entirely optional and is at your own cost if you choose to take the plunge. It is the world’s highest commercial bungee jump at 216 metres.
What is the Kayak and Lilo adventure, and how do I add it on?
The Kayak and Lilo adventure is a two-and-a-half-hour guided experience paddling up the Storms River Gorge into the Tsitsikamma National Park. You explore deep gorge pools, caves, and ancient forest that most visitors never reach. It costs R950 per person in addition to the tour price. Wetsuit and shoe rental is for your own account. Contact Gecko Tours when booking if you would like to include it.
What is the Big Tree, and is the walk to see it easy?
The Big Tree is an 800-year-old Outeniqua yellowwood, 36.6 metres tall with a circumference of nearly 9 metres, standing in the Tsitsikamma indigenous forest. The walk from the main road is approximately 10 minutes on a well-maintained path and is suitable for most fitness levels. No special footwear is required.
Is there anything to do or buy at Bramon Wine Estate?
Bramon is a working wine estate in the Crags area and produces South Africa’s first and only Sauvignon Blanc Méthode Cap Classique. The estate offers tastings and a small range of wines available for purchase. All tastings and purchases are at your own account. It makes for a relaxed and scenic end to the day.
Where will lunch be on this tour?
Lunch is at the Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve restaurant, which is at your own account. It is a comfortable stop after the suspension bridge walk and is set against a beautiful forest and ocean backdrop. Budget around R150 to R250 per person for a meal and drink.
