About This Tour

The Garden Route's Boldest Day Out

This is the tour for travellers who’d rather earn their downtime than ease into it. Across one full day you’ll zip-line over waterfalls, glide through indigenous forest on a Segway, and snorkel with wild Cape fur seals off the Plettenberg Bay coastline. It’s a back-to-back run of the Garden Route’s best adrenaline experiences, threaded together with private transport, local insight and a relaxed lunch stop to catch your breath. Then we round the whole thing off the only sensible way, with a coffee on the beach as the day winds down. Big day, big payoff.

Your Day, Stop by Stop

The Journey:

Every stop is a chapter in one of the Garden Route’s most action-packed days. Your private guide sets the pace, so you can linger where you wish and lean into whatever excites you most.

1

Morning

Soaring Over Waterfalls at Tsitsikamma

We collect you from your hotel or guest house and head east along the N2 to Tsitsikamma Falls Adventure Park, eight kilometres past the Storms River Bridge. The morning kicks off with eight zip-line slides strung across the Kruis River, the longest stretching a full 211 metres. You control your own braking, so you can pause mid-cable to take in the waterfalls below and the indigenous fynbos and forest on either side. It’s a brilliantly judged opener: thrilling enough to wake you up, gentle enough that first-timers love it.

2

Late Morning

A Segway Glide Through the Indigenous Forest

From the zip-line we move on to a Segway tour. A Segway is a two-wheeled, self-balancing, battery-powered personal transporter, and it’s far easier to ride than it looks. After a short training session you’ll set off through our little adventure-filled village and onto a forest road that winds deep into pristine Tsitsikamma indigenous forest, where you’ll enjoy the hour-long experience tour. It’s quiet, oddly meditative, and the perfect counterweight to the morning’s adrenaline.

3

Midday

A Well-Earned Lunch

By midday you’ll have worked up a proper appetite. We stop at a local spot in either Tsitsikamma or Plettenberg Bay, with lunch for your own account, and your guide will suggest the best option based on the day’s flow. Expect honest, generous Garden Route fare, exactly what you need before the afternoon’s main event out on the water.

4

Early Afternoon

Snorkelling with Cape Fur Seals

After lunch we hand you over to the seasoned team at Offshore Adventures for what is, for many guests, the highlight of the day. An adrenaline-pumping beach launch sends the boat through the surf and out along Plettenberg Bay’s scenic coastline to a wild Cape fur seal colony. There you’ll snorkel for around an hour and a half as curious, playful seals dart and twist around you in their natural habitat. Worth noting: the seal swim is ocean-condition dependent, and safety always comes first.

5

Late Afternoon

A Coffee on the Beach to Finish

After all that excitement with the sea creatures, we round the day off the gentlest way we know how: a hot coffee or cappuccino on the beach. It’s the perfect moment to dry off, swap stories from the day and watch the Garden Route coastline do its thing, before we drive you back to your accommodation, happy, salty and thoroughly spoiled.

Frequently Asked

You need to be in reasonable health and comfortable with mild physical activity, but you don’t need to be especially fit. The zip-line and Segway are both designed for first-timers, with full instruction at each venue. The seal snorkel is the most physical part of the day, so being a confident swimmer helps you get the most from it.venue. The seal snorkel is the most physical element, so being a confident swimmer helps.

The seal swim is ocean-condition dependent and is the activity most likely to be affected. If conditions don’t allow it, we’ll either reshuffle the day or arrange a suitable alternative. The zip-line, Segway and abseil generally run in most weather, though heavy rain can affect them too. We’ll keep you fully informed.

Wear comfortable, active clothing and closed-toe shoes. Bring a swimming costume and a towel for the seal snorkel (wetsuits and snorkelling gear are provided on the boat), plus sunscreen, a hat, a light jacket and a dry change of clothes for the drive back. A waterproof phone pouch or GoPro is a great idea if you have one.

Each venue has its own safety requirements, particularly for the zip-line, abseil and boat-based seal snorkel. Children are generally welcome from around 8 years upwards, depending on the activity, and there are maximum weight limits for the zip-line and abseil. If anyone in your group is pregnant, has a heart condition, recent surgery or other concerns, let us know when booking and we’ll confirm with each operator.

Lunch is for your own account, and you’ll get a comfortable break of around 45 minutes to an hour. Your guide knows the best spots in Tsitsikamma and Plett and will pick whichever fits best with the day’s flow.
